In this particular time, what if we try to better understand the world around us?

The ocean is essential for life on Earth and covers 71 % of the planet’s surface. It is the largest ecosystem on Earth, inhabited by abundant biodiversity, but it is also at the heart of the climate machine. The ocean indeed captures more than 25 % of anthropogenic CO2 and 93 % of the excess heat due to human activities. Therefore, to fight efficiently against climate change, it is essential to protect the ocean and to conserve and restore the life it shelters. The ocean, climate and biodiversity are inextricably linked and must be considered as a whole.

Because it is essential to understand in order to act, and given that scientific knowledge should constitute the basis for sustainable action, the Ocean and Climate Platform published several documents in 2019. Our scientific, educational and infographic sheets cover subjects such as corals, the overexploitation of the sea’s resources, the sea-level rise or the ocean acidification. A great opportunity to enhance your knowledge from home!

And to understand how to move from science to action, do not hesitate to consult our “20 policy recommendations for a healthy ocean, a protected climate!”

Our documents are all freely available on our ocean-climate.org website. To share without moderation!
